Hearts bounce back with a convincing win.

Saturday 16th September 2017.

Kingdom of Fife League.

Cupar Hearts travelled to a rain drenched Aberdour in search of a much needed three points.

The hosts were on the attack as early as the 7th minute but the shot from Blair McPake from distance was high over the bar.

The Duffus Park side responded with a great chance to break the deadlock when Jakub Dobes got himself on the end of a good through ball and found himself one on one but his final effort was weak.

The woodwork came to the rescue of the home side when Kerr Brown fired in a brilliant effort that bounced out with the ‘keeper beaten.

The deadlock was broken on 25 minutes when Jakub Dobes did well to control a long high ball and calmly slotted home.

The lead was short lived however and 4 minutes later Bayside were back on equal terms. Goalie Gavin Wilson failed to anticipate a corner kick with Jordan Ritchie guiding his header into the net.

There was a big let off for Cupar when Callum Strang hit a wonderful first-time effort that cannoned off the bar and was cleared.

Another good piece of play by Lee Sibanda set up Gordon McKinnon but he put his effort high over the bar.

Half time arrived with the score locked at 1-1 and both team knowing they were a little unfortunate not to go in ahead. Cupar knew that needed to be more clinical in front of goal and cut out the slack passes.

Hearts took the lead from the penalty spot on the hour mark when a Lee Sibanda corner was headed back across goal by Scott McInroy and a Bayside defender handled it. Player- manager Sibanda stepped forward and made no mistake with his spot kick.

Gordon McKinnon made way for Gary Brown two minutes later who immediately grabbed goal number 3.

A Lee Sibanda lay off found Brown in space and his excellent first-time strike gave the ‘keeper no chance.

Cupar finally had control of the game and were creating the better chances.

Lee Sibanda had 2 great chances with only 7 minutes remaining. First he latched onto a long ball and disappointingly fired straight at the ‘keeper then a great ball by Jakub Dobes found Sibanda but he sent it over the bar.

Another substitution made a quick impact for Hearts when Paul Laurie entered the fray and put the game to bed when he nutmegged the ‘keeper with only minutes remaining to the delight of the travelling fans.
