Saturday 14th April 2012.

Kingdom Caledonian League.

It was goals galore when Cupar Hearts entertained Bowhill Rovers. Hearts opened the scoring on 7 minutes when a good corner by Stephen Gilfillan was met by Michael Reilly at the back post who headed home. Bowhill broke through the Hearts defence moments later but Steven McEwan did well to save with his feet. Cupar doubled their lead on 16 minutes when Scott McInroy’s bullet header gave the ‘keeper no chance after another perfectly placed corner by Stephen Gilfillan. With 5 minutes of the half remaining Barry Sibanda did excellently to beat the offside trap and nutmeg Robert McFarlane between the sticks for goal number three. One minute later Hearts went four to the good when Iain Boylan latched onto a high ball forward. His initial effort was saved but through sheer determination he gathered the rebound and neatly slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Cupar Hearts picked up where they left off in the second half and 3 minutes after the restart Hearts went further ahead. A free kick just outside the area was fired goalwards but Robert McFarlane couldn’t gather and Barry Sibanda was on hand and blasted his shot on the turn for his second and Hearts’ fifth. Ten minutes later Barry Sibanda did well to lay off an excellent ball to Iain Boylan and his effort was followed in by Barry Sibanda ensuring the ball crossed the line. Bowhill hit back one minute later through Scott Reilly who did well to chest down the ball and volley from 25 yards for an excellent finish. Stephen Gilfillan was provider for goal number 7 on 70 minutes when his run down the wing was finished with a low cross across the box and Barry Sibanda slid in to poke the ball over the line. Gary Reilly made way for Stephen Kane who scored with virtually his first touch. A low cross by Iain Boylan was met by Stephen Kane who slotted the ball home from 6 yards. Cupar gifted Bowhill their second goal when a poor clearance by Steven McEwan went straight to Conner Paterson who knocked the ball into an empty net. With 5 minutes remaining the visitors grabbed another goal. Darren Doyle squared to David Oliver who tapped in from close range. Cupar Hearts would have the last say though in injury time when a high cross by Iain Boylan was met by Greg Honeyman whose header came back off the bar and Barry Sibanda was on hand to head the ball in for his fifth and Hearts’ ninth.

Ceres Butchers meat tray winner was Iain Boylan (Cupar Hearts).
