Thursday 5th April 2012.
Cupar Hearts travelled to near neighbours Kettle United in the first of the midweek fixtures and wasted no time in opening the scoring. With only 6 minutes on the clock a good cross by David Simpson found Barry Sibanda who fired in from close range. Two minutes later Hearts doubled their lead when the home side failed to clear Barry Sibanda’s header and David Simpson blasted in from 2 yards. Goal number three came on 27 minutes when a good move involving Iain Boylan found David Rintoul and his low cross was fired home by David Simpson. Iain Boylan was next on target when he found the net on 36 minutes after good work by David Rintoul. Another excellent run down the left and cross by David Rintoul found David Simpson and his second attempt beat Daniel Kilpatrick in the home goal right on the half time whistle.
Six minutes after the restart Barry Sibanda headed in after a good run and low drive by David Simpson for goal number 6. On the hour mark Robert Crawford did well to win the ball and Iain Boylan’s clever flick over the ‘keeper saw Hearts go 7 to the good. With 8 minutes remaining Kettle pulled a goal back through Scott Blackwood who’s effort came off the bar and in. But it was too little too late as Barry Sibanda concluded the scoring after Grey Honeyman squared.
