Cupar Hearts welcomed Leven United to Duffus Park last Thursday and the visitors set the tone of the game with a show of respect by clapping the Kingdom Caledonian League Champions onto the pitch. The opening 20 minutes was an even affair with both sides missing chances. Hearts opened the scoring on 21 minutes through Iain Boylan when his perfect cross turn shot found the net. Cupar Hearts took the slender lead into the break but it wasn’t long before they got a hold of the game. Five minutes into the second half an Iain O’Leary cross was headed out to Neale Smith and his first time shot came off both posts and into the net to double Cupar’s lead. One minute later Iain Boylan latched on to a long ball and blasted in from 25 yards giving the ‘keeper no chance. Then a short pass back allowed Gary Reilly to slip in and tap the ball over the line for goal number four. Leven pulled one back with 13 minutes remaining, a low driven cross was sent in and their number 6 knocked the ball in from close range. Hearts substitute Kyle Watson would score Cupar’s fifth and final goal when he got the highest to head home and with minutes remaining Leven got a second through number 6 when he tapped in from 6 yards. And so it was another good performance and another 3 points for Hearts.
