Cupar Hearts made the journey to near neighbours Kettle United last Tuesday and an easy 3 points and results elsewhere saw Hearts collect enough points to win the Kingdom Caledonian League.

The visitors were awarded an early penalty on 8 minutes after Michael Reilly was brought down but Barry Sibanda’s spot kick was blasted over. He made amends though, 8 minutes later when after a Neale Smith corner he fired in from close range to open the scoring. On 28 minutes Hearts went further in front courtesy of Kettle’s Craig Black. He slid in to clear a low Barry Sibanda cross but knocked the ball into his own net. Then 1 minute later Michael Reilly added his name to the score sheet when he did well to round the ‘keeper and tap the ball into the net to make it 3 for Hearts. There were a few chances for both sides before the break with Kettle firing a shot over but they couldn’t pull one back.

Ten minutes into the second half Hearts went further ahead when Scott Pryde, unmarked, headed in after a Neale Smith corner. Moments later Kettle were reduced to 10 men when Kenneth Gallagher saw red for a rash challenge on Barry Sibanda. With 4 minutes to go a good run by Gary Reilly down the left was finished with a low cross into the area and Michael Reilly’s low drive found the net. Hearts weren’t finished yet and with seconds remaining Barry Sibanda headed home after a perfectly placed Iain Boylan free kick for goal number 6.
